What Have You Done To Your XR Today?

I thought this would be a good spot for people to post any of those little mods they did on their XR from day to day.

Maybe you added some bags (bagger!) or some LED indicators.

Maybe you washed the bike.

MayB you put some new tires on there.

Who know?

Just post up!

Oh, and we like pictures.

What kind of weight reduction have you done to get to 518?

Added a little more Stompgrip tank protection I am seeing from my pants and jacket. It comes off without pulling off any paint.

Yes I have tank swelling, but don't we all?

Calculations for oem front wheel bolt spacer to spacer length:

98mm spacer in the middlle
30mm total for the two bearings(15+15)
50mm total for the two side spacers(25+25)

178mm ...

Congratulations! I'm glad it's only every second year here in Switzerland.

It's not a problem really if your bikes in a safe condition, the only issues can be the size of the number plate and how loud your exhaust is, and if you're friendly with the tester they go away ;)
It felt appropriate to take the bike to the local tractor museum today :giggle: David Brown tractors were made just down the road from me and there was a 'bring anything interesting' car and bike meeting taking place. The XR was one of the newest vehicles there but it blended in nicely with everything else.

I took this pic on the way back of my 4 mile round trip!

My Asbos showed up today! Bolted them on after struggling a little with alignment. Rode them for about a half hour as delivered, then tack welded in the quiet baffles and rode it some more. I really like the sound, not too loud, and they look substantially better than the stock cans.

Of course, one step forward, one step back. On test ride number 2 my clutch started to slip at wot in 5th. It slipped on aggressive gear changes when I first bought it, it cleared up once after a fluid change, but apparently today was the day it decided to call it quits. There is plenty of freeplay so I think the frictions are trash.

Asbo’s look great…I painted my silver heat shields with high temp satin black to match the color of the cans, I liked the look.
Well Done!

Thanks! I'm definitely happy with them. The price was still pretty reasonable too considering he is handmaking them.

Researching clutches now. Don't think it's worth the full XL conversion. I've read a few people got by with just changing the spring.... but if it's far enough apart to change the spring I figure the frictions should probably get changed too. And then have to add in the might as well of the Mueller clutch ramp to get the lever effort back to stock.

That's all money I wanted to spend on rear shocks, lol
