Anyone that's been to Marin county California been on the SMR?
I started probably 5 years after this budget movie was filmed. One year I didn't miss a single Sunday.
I went last weekend and will try to get a vid up of this weekends ride.

Should I do helmet cam or XR1200X cam?

Thanks for posting video.
Hope you fully recover soon. Adrenaline work wonders on masking pain.

Looks like the oil cooler was just pushed out of place. Looks like It has a broken gear shift lever and linkage and bent the shift shaft. You should be able to straighten the shaft.
Was it stuck in 2nd gear?

Wow…glad you’re ok, it appears that you looked down for just a second before going off the side of the road. Damage to the bike doesn’t look too bad, wishing you both a speedy recovery.
The first part of your ride (pre-crash) had me wincing just a bit, it looked like it was kind of foggy, and the road was wet, and all those “tar snakes” would make me nervous. You certainly looked like you were very familiar with those roads.
Again, I’m glad you’re ok…broken ribs can be very painful, it could have been much worse.
Regards
Roy

Damn. Sorry you crashed. Thank you for sharing this video though. Looks like you just lost focus or got distracted at the worst possible time. A good reminder for all to stay attentive. Much appreciated post.

Glad you are mostly A-OK J-D. Like raven said, these bikes can be fixed rather easily........they really are tanks. Riders, not so much................take care!

You look like you might have saved that if not for that errant tree stump that loomed up and blocked your path at the last moment. I felt for your forks more than your ribs, frankly!
Oh well, any landing you can walk away from is a good landing, as they say in aviation...

They say in Nascar "Rubbin' is racing!', that guy just lived it. Perhaps just going too fast for any of the hard parts on the right side of the bike to dig in to the smooth concrete barrier. But well saved anyhow.

Here is a 45 minute video of the first of a series of Super Holigans class of racing. I believe there will be 4 more rounds at different tracks. Todays race was in Daytona, Florida and I know there were some XR1200’s in the field. (Spoiler alert …they didn’t do so well)
one nice surprise was that our own Shelina Moreda (she’s a member here, and raced an XR1200 in the old Vance and Hines race series) was in the field riding a Ducati.
There were KTM’s, Indian FTR1200’s, Harleys almost everything you could imagine.
Enjoy the video

What a Save!

There's also a pic on IG of him with the right sleeve and shoulder scuffed up on his leathers from hitting the wall! Crazy save!
No where near XR related, but back in my SCCA Racing Days, after I raced in Regional Pro-7, 2000-2002, a guy I raced with moved up to E-Production. Bob Neal #08 1982 Mazda RX7, with owner of Mazdatrix in Long Beach, Dave Lemon, 1990 Mazda RX7, zasked me to be his Crew Chief, so we traveled to the local regional and national races, then to the National Championship Runoffs for 5 years. Here is one of the SCCA National races back in 2006 at Topeka KS. If it bores you, then fast forward to 25:00 and you’ll see where I get an interview. I miss Speed Vision. We raced together from 2006-2008. Good times indeed.

Loved SCCA racing, was a big fan of the Trans AM cars. Mustangs vs Camaros, Datsuns vs Alfas.
