Vibration at 3000RPM

Hello XR 1200 owners,

i have aver recently just purchased my first XR1200. A 2010 model with 10,000 kilometres on it. Do all XRs have an inherent vibration problem? My bike runs smooth but from 2800rpm to 3500rpm there is a reasonably harsh engine vibration. Is this typical or do I have a problem? Thanks for reading everyone and I hope you can all offer me your opinions. regards Tony

sounds like your carburettor diaphragm is worn out .......:whistling:

Hello mk7pursang, welcome to our little group, I'm assuming you are in Europe somewhere because you mentioned kilometers.
this vibration you are describing is certainly not typical of the XR1200, you should be able to get right up to to red line rpm's without any unwanted engine vibrations, are you quite sure it's coming from the engine?
things like tires that are not balanced properly, or rear wheel not in proper alignment might feel like the type of vibration you are describing. The XR has a rubber mount engine, there are 4 rubber isolators (2 in front, 2 in back), it's certainly possible that one, or all four may need to be replaced, but 10,000 kilometers doesn't seem old enough for that to be necessary. Was the bike ever in a accident?. I see this is your first post, why don't you start a thread in the "introduce yourself" section and tell us a little bit about yourself, your bike, the places you like to ride, and we like pictures too, post up a few, if you feel like it..

Corpse is just funnin with you, as our bikes don't have carburetors :)

Wondering what you mean by vibration. With stock mufflers, my mirrors vibrate enough at 4000rpm I cannot tell a cop is behind me till the roof lights come on.... normal. I believe it was an even lower rpm when I had my D&D slip on mufflers installed. Is it just the mirrors vibrating or something worse than that? I am jealous that you are even out on your bike, mine is in the living room of my igloo. Might consider an intro thread in the appropriate spot and fill out your location. Pretty cool lot here, I have personally met over a dozen of the guys, enjoy the forum and don't hesitate to join in on one of the get togethers.
