OK, so Phaedrus just asked me if anyone would be interested in getting a mess of XRs together for some tuning, dyno time, and just all around motorcycle fun for the day.

Question for you Joe. I know you aren’t close enough to take advantage, but do you think guys on the forum would be interested in a minimal cost dyno day?
I’m thinking of offering a XR1200-only dyno day in April, at my buddy’s shop on the south side of Baltimore. I’d offer it as a day to gather XR’s, do power pulls, and offer advice on any obvious tuning issues. Just thinking of the location - everything from Philly to Richmond, and the DE/NJ/MD coast to WV would be within 150 miles.
Think there would be interest amongst forum members/XR owners?
God! I would imagine so! That would be like a super cool XR day, for sure.
I know Jeff Benner has been talking about getting some dyno work done with Phaedrus, and I'd imagine others would be interested in getting together for that, too.
I wrote back to Phaedrus, and here is what he just sent me back:

Yes, I’d do it at my buddy’s shop in Glen Burnie, MD. It’s right near BWI airport on the south side of Baltimore. I can open the shop on a Saturday and set it up only for XR’s. I wouldn’t plan on doing any tuning, just say do a cruise check and 3 power pulls on each bike – but I could fix obvious issues on TMax equipped bikes during the power pulls.
Jeff and I have been talking, but I’m planning a separate day for him to be able to spend a couple hours on just his bike.
If you want to ask on the forum whether guys are interested, I’d be glad if you felt people out. An April weekend day seems like it would be warm enough to let guys come from within 150 miles or so, and be early enough in the season they could take the info and work on any additional tuning or upgrades they want to do before we are heavy into riding season. I should be a little flexible, but I’m thinking maybe Saturday, April 21st. Cost would be minimal, and the money would go to the shop for wear and tear on the dyno. Depending on who is interested and how far they are riding, we could even do an XR ride, but the dyno would be the primary thought.
Joe Texas is just to dam big. You could be through 6-7 states by the time you hit the border. Yes Phad and I have been talkin however I would attend the ride to get familiar with Baltimore, again. It has been a long time since I have been there. I would be a good opportunity to meet people I have not met and put a face to the name. 3 hrs 15 min for me
That's a State of Texas drive for me, born and raised outside of Richmond and that's a 450 mile ride to there with another 100 miles up towards MD. And as of right now, my bike is still stock except for the shocks I got from CobraT. But it is still tempting just to learn some more about the bike.
Dammit folks....Do ya'll secretly have my drill schedule and plan everything on the dates I can't make IT!.......WTF!!!!!!......Any weekend but April 21.....Just frustrating.....JeffB if you want company the day you go....Let me know....That would be cool.....Just venting
Thanks for putting a feeler out. It’s early. We can see if interest builds. I think the date would need to be April 28. (My wife probably doesn’t want me scheduling on her wedding anniversary the week before.)
They have the link to my Web Site on the forum. I’ll post a note in the Blog on the Site about the opportunity. They can have my Phaedrusstuff e-mail, if they want to reach out direct – that’s posted on my site too. I might just not be ready to share my cell ph yet though.
That secret email address is PhaedrusStuff@verizon.net.

...just let the info ride for a while. I can leave the date open for now, and take the next few weeks to see the level of interest. If your thread gets bumped once in a while and we see what is up, I can figure out whether it is worth opening the shop that day. If only a few bikes want to make it, could end up doing a morning dyno session and an afternoon XR ride. Lots of flexibility there.
Smitty if you wana ride down I'll cruise with if I can April 28th is my lil guys B-day so that weekend I may be committed. Phad an I have a private tuning that we will be scheduling before the Dragon Run. I wana be sure I go there with all the Hp the ole girl can mustard up. Howard is building the new shocks so it should be a go for the Dragon. I think the bike will do well. Many new upgrades since I last saw you or the boys from down south.
April 28th is good for me....98acrsilver not sure how we'd meet up since you are south west of me without one of us riding an extra hour or so....JeffB is a straight shot down the TP for me......
@JeffB.....Looking forward to seeing the new mods....My bike will be different also...Have the "Anvil" coming, PTF, MrH shifter and the Evotech tail tidy.....Also looking at getting the Freespirits intake...But of course that will depend on how much of the tax return the wife manages to spend before I actually get the tax return......
XR1200 Dyno Day in the Baltimore-Washington AreaI've offered through the XR1200OwnersGroup Forum, a dyno day for XR1200's only. This would be a day for running the XR's through their paces on the dyno, baselining individual bikes, and doing a same day comparison of a number of XR1200s.
Should be able to run each bike through a cruise check, and at least three power pulls. If the exhaust system allows, the AFR will be checked. Each bike will get a printout of its best power pull. For TMax equipped bikes, if there are any obvious tuning issues those could be spot checked during the dyno pulls. Regardless, the information will provide each rider a comparison to other XR's and insight for later tuning adjustments at your local shop.
The Date: Saturday, April 28, 2012
Time: 1000 - 1500 Hrs
The Location: American Cycle Performance
30 Aquahart Rd., Glen Burnie, MD
(not far from Baltimore's BWI airport,
near the crossing of I-97 and MD 100)
Cost: 30$ per bike
Depending on the day and how things run, after dyno runs we could turn this into a nice XR1200 ride over the Bay Bridge to Red Eyes Dock Bar for lunch and sight seeing.
Although there won't be any limit on the number of XR's I can handle that day, this will be done on a RSVP basis. That way, if there is some reason to cancel/re-schedule the session, I'll know who to notify and not leave anyone hanging.
if you don’t mind, I know you posted a note about me running a dyno day on the 28th, but I still have not heard directly from anyone that might be interested. I’m happy to do the pulls for people, but I need to open my buddy’s shop – and it’s 45 miles away – which means I need to schedule with him and have it worth commiting the hour ride each way. If only one or two guys want to come, I’ll probably put this off till later. I think for the PA guys, there is a shop doing some pulls this weekend anyways, so maybe they can get what they want there. If you could pimp anyone who is interested to drop me an e-mail directly, I’d appreciate it. If I don’t get an e-mail from at least three or so people by Friday, I’m going to canx the idea till the Fall.
I told him I'd like to go, but they'd need a stretcher to hold me up during the sessions once I made it there.
