Looks like zippers is no longer doing the 1250 cylinders and pistons! Have my bike down at a shop to do Morts build and the 1250 cylinders are not available and same story with the pistons. So now is time to look into other options, very bummed out.

Did you speak with Dan at Hammer? In January they marked down all their 1250 kits and were introducing their bolt on 1275 kit. 'Cause, you know, size matters. :)

The owner of the bike shop was dealing with Zippers and could not get any answers from them, they said the parts are not available and no longer being produced.

Hammer has been talking about the 1275 kit for a while. I was talking with Aaron there about different upgrade options for my bike about a month ago; at that time they weren't selling the 1275 kit yet, but it was on their website without a price specified. Looking on their site today it looks like they are switching over completely to the 1275 from the 1250, and are clearing out the 1250 kits. The good news is that the new kit isn't much of a price premium over the old one. Don't despair, Rick! Looks like you can either get a 1250 kit directly from Hammer at a bit of a reduced price, or be "forced" into going with the higher powered 1275 option for very little more money than you were planning to spend anyway.

As far as I know their sledge hammer head work runs reliably on pump gas and if you do get that done with them you can get the better piston that is matched to the head with the better squish and all that kinda technical stuff.

My next project as well and like you I am so glad I have put this off till now!

Mort and Phaedrus are the local gods on these builds ... Phaedrus has done a bunch with Zippers and Mort with Hammer... they'd be the first place I turned for advice and cautions.

Planning to pickup a used XR1200 2011.
wanted to upgrade the engine from stock to Hammer
I called hammer performance guys and they say they both have

Super Hammer Kit for 3219$
http://www.zippersperformance.com/a...-engine-kits/super-hammer-1200-kit-xl-xr.html

Zipper Hammer kit for 4815$
http://www.zippersperformance.com/a...ortster-engine-kits/hammer-88-kit-xr1200.html

What is the huge difference between these two kits apart from the price?
My riding is mostly street and once a while I'll be taking it to the track..
Any advise is much appreciated
