    Default Beer at Betoota Hotel

The Betoota Hotel 160 klm’s from Birdsville has been shut for over 20 years when the owner Ziggy past away.
Robbo bought the pub a few years ago and he finally opened for business July 20th.
Betoota is claimed to be Australia’s smallest town with a population of one, the publican, and is located in the middle of the desert, in outback south western Queensland.
When I heard about the opening I just had to go, I decided on the XR instead of one of my other more suitable bikes for dirt roads cause there’s also heaps of sealed outback highways where the XR can stretch its legs, plus I find the XR very good on dirt roads.
Due to limited time off work it was going to be a quick trip.
I stealth camped in the bush on the way there and back.

Well as the sign says the beer was cold, they even have their own brew.

It was time to head home the next day.
I knew I was asking too much of the Pirelli Angels on hundreds of klm’s of rocky dirt roads, the inevitable puncture occurred.

After a strip plug repair and my mini air compressor we were back on out way.

The rear tyre started to have a small leak from the plug I installed after hours of high speed touring, so I had to top the air up every 200klms. The tyre lost about 5 psi every 200klms.

Back home after 3250klms in 4 days.
Apart from rear tyre issues the bike ran perfect.
    Accomodation cost - Zero.
    Fuel cost - who cares.
    Beer cost - who cares.

    Thanks for the comments.
The changes I have made to my XR has made it into a very good sports tourer and it is one of my most enjoyable bikes I have owned.

The prob with the puncture was that it was caused by a rock which created a gash instead of a hole, and the gash kept splitting further, I had to install another 3 strip plugs, 4 in total on way home to keep air in.
