Default Quick fix for Storz shifter........

Shifter 1.jpgShifter 2.jpgShifter 3.jpgShifter 4.jpg Bought a Storz Shifter for my XR about a 2 years ago. Love it, no slop firm shifts ....but the knurled shifter eats up my shift side boot as shown. So I bought a new pair of boots but decided to look for an lasting, economical, inexpensive way to solve the problem. I believe I have found just that. Electrical shrink tube. I have had this fix for almost 1500 miles now and it still works great. Hope this will help some out there.

    ^Haha,
    Been there Buddy!

And that fix ain't too shabby neither. Seen heat shrink applied to plenty knurled toe pegs, even w/ the track stuff.

Good fix. The Storz seems to be hard on boots. I took a strip of emery cloth to mine when I had one.
If you have the money,Sato makes a folding shifter tip that I think would fit on the Storz.
Then if the bike gets tipped over your shifter does not get bent or damage the derby cover. ( don't ask me how I know)

Great minds think alike! I did the same trick to my Storz shifter.
    Cheaper than new boots
