Bought a Storz Shifter for my XR about a 2 years ago. Love it, no slop firm shifts ....but the knurled shifter eats up my shift side boot as shown. So I bought a new pair of boots but decided to look for an lasting, economical, inexpensive way to solve the problem. I believe I have found just that. Electrical shrink tube. I have had this fix for almost 1500 miles now and it still works great. Hope this will help some out there.

Good fix. The Storz seems to be hard on boots. I took a strip of emery cloth to mine when I had one.
If you have the money,Sato makes a folding shifter tip that I think would fit on the Storz.
Then if the bike gets tipped over your shifter does not get bent or damage the derby cover. ( don't ask me how I know)
