    Default Stator output test?

I've done this in other bikes with no issues... start engine, rev 2K rpm, AC voltmeter on both leads
I tried this on the XR but either it would not start with the stator unplugged or it would die if running when I unplug the stator
    Am I missing something?

    Thanks

Are you sure you're disconnecting the right plug?

Yes and no.... the bolts holding it were not tight AT ALL... either they vibrated out and caused the stator to move or they moved out after the fact.
Very little metal shavings on the primary drain plug and the inside looks pretty clean
I'll try to look inside the drained oil later...

Engine and battery light came up, turned the bike off and on again and they were off
    Left for a walk
When I started it back up the lights were off but there was a noise in the primary. I thought a magnet came lose

Do you know if it's been touched/opened since it left the factory. ie if not should we all check ours
