Mine is always on the trip meter because of the overzealous fuel light. Looks like I've missed a few milestones!

    AMEN!

My last ride I couldn't even make it out of the parking lot of the gas station without the low fuel light coming on.

Remember, it isn't the miles on the bike that tells the story, it is how the miles were put ON the bike!

Too funny! That happened to me yesterday! Neutral light has been dead for months, too.

My neutral light is dead too.Think the problem must be a sensor or some thing as it now and then come back on. Any idea.
    Love the XR

Use some contact cleaner in all the junction blocks, earthing points (there's at least 3 I know of), switch blocks, the battery terminals and fuses and relays. And check the battery main earthing strap for abrasions or internal disconuity. Some guys have just simply replaced that item with a heavier, better shielded lead they made themselves. For a dash light you may have to remove the headlight to get at wiring/junction blocks behind it.
Not sure if the dash lights themselves are small globes or what (never had to replace one yet) but obviously check them too.

Could be the Neutral switch itself, PIA to change as you've got to take the front drive pulley off
