ASCOT Flat Track Reunion

(Three of our original members, Streettracker, MadDog, and XRRUNNER (can't use their real names, that Witness Protection Program is pretty touchy about that ) headed to the Ascot Reunion event this weekend. Don, I mean Streettracker, was able to grab these most excellent photos. Thanks Don, I mean Street )

I put this under the XR events section since there were 3 XR's there. Maddog and XRRUNNER rode down from Bake and I rode up from behind the Oragne Curtain to meet at

Harv's H-D XR1200: Street to Race Transformation

Travis Wyman here,

We are are the beginning stages of transforming another XR1200 to add to the line up for Harv's Harley-Davidson racing! For any of those who are interested, the bike is being worked on by my crew chief Aaron Brown and XR1200 mechanic Robb Hilfiker. Step one was to pull the bike off of the Harv's Harley-Davidson showroom floor. We began on March 26th, and plan on testing the motorcycle at New Jersey Motorsports Park April 9-10th. So far, the kit has been ordered and is on its way from Vance & Hines. Rear-sets are being shipped from cjmoto.com. The suspension will be Ohlins 30mm cartridges in the front, and AMA spec Ohlins rear shocks being built by Lenny Albin of Superbike Chassis. As we make progress, I will be posting pictures

Trip to Lake Atitlan, Guatemala

Lake Atitlan is considered by many to be the most beautiful lake in the world. I had visited this part of Guatemala once, for a cousins wedding and I was amazed by the beauty of it and left wanting more. In october last year, my uncle, who is a bmw enthusiast, told me that they were holding the anual Guatemalan meet in lake atitlan and that any bike was welcomed. He asked me if I would join them to which I immediately said yes. I asked another friend (ktm adventure) to join us on the trip and he confirmed almost immediately.

One week before the trip my uncle went down on his bmw k1300gt, my aunt broke her ankle and the bike was left badly bruised. The trip was canceled for them. My friend and I decided to go anyway.
2000km, 600 dirt. Australian XR1200.

(admin note: Pete is one of our Aussie members. He's a do it all kinda' guy, an accomplished motorcyclist, worldly in his experience, and one of the few to ever attempt the Paris to Dakar Rally. He's a motorcyclist's motorcyclist. And, like all Aussie's, he's the strong silent type....so, here are some pic's from his ride in the Outback, but don't expect a lot of dialogue. Go to the forum section and find it in the "Ride Reports" if you want to see more. )
Trip to Tahkovuori, Finland, in the beginning of October 2011

In Tahkovuori - amongst the many other cabins - there is Warrant Officers cabin for rent. It inspired us and I drove with Ilse (my girlfriend) in the beginning of October for a week long hoöiday in there. I wanted also to see the Koli, which I pass a years ago when paddling in the area, and didn't had time to climb to the top of the hill.

On the way we stopped in Kuopio, because the air temperature dropped to near 0 degrees celsius, and we were no longer able to drive. Cold indeed stiffen and gloves - regardless of brand - do not prevent the cold side.

Route was planned so that we were trying to avoid the highways. At times, I also had to read the map. There still is quite well in Finland the roadnumbers right.
